PERSONALITY:
It was if she was born for the sword, born from the sword.
When Saber is first introduced, her beauty and her poise should strike each person into a state of awe. Shirou is instantly surprised by her small frame yet immense power and a bit confused when it comes to her stoic disposition. As a Servant, Saber only speaks wisely as Shirou's ally from quick snaps, calm suggestions, or strong standings. Nevertheless, Saber proves to show people that she is self-sufficient, experienced in battle, chivalrous, and sometimes quite quirky. Though she tries to put up an objective front, there is more to her than one would think... Behind her fierce eyes and calm expression lie the legend and the burdens of a king.
There is a premonition that the daughter of King Uther will be the heir and, so forth, will claim the throne. Ever since she was born, she has already had something to fulfill and trained for it vigorously in order to achieve her goals. Despite being young, she took the oath of a knight in order to keep face in front of the public that would shun the idea of a woman being king. Basically, she is raised not as a woman, but as a knight and never did she think it was unfair, harsh, or anything otherwise. Shirou has brought up uneasiness with her being female and fending off enemies for him only for that sole reason. All she feels from that was surprise for even she did not take that into account. She even replies that “I am a warrior (knight), before I am a woman”. Then her other supporting details would be how Servants should not be regarded by their gender in the end and that it is silly for Shirou to even ponder too much upon it.
Being a king and a knight, she doesn't submit too easily to her personal feelings when at work... or at all, actually. She has spent most of her time acting as a knight and as King Arthur rather than herself. It's even more than apparent that this is how one should be if they were to take over the throne. In the novel, Saber's understanding of kingship lies within this line, “Becoming king means no longer being human. In short, a king is someone who kills everyone to protect everyone”. Not only must she keep her emotions tucked in properly, she understands that one needs to make sacrifices for the greater good. She is more than aware of the problems she may face on this path, but she is unfazed. Though these obstacles would make her heart go brittle as she grows bitter, she has never thrown the throne away. Her country is important to her and she cannot simply abandon it even if the inhabitants can seem like strangers. In the end, she still fights to protect those that are around her rather than giving her own needs attention. Well, it seems more like her needs surround protecting her country and fulfilling her duties.
“—Many people were smiling. I do not believe it would be a mistake.”
In the beginning, she has always known what she wanted and also what she must do in order for it to happen. Nevertheless, this heavy sense of duty also comes from the compassion and desire within her heart to protect her country and its people. It wasn't that she felt she was forced to do it, it was that she made the decision to do it. What she had to give up to even start the journey in succeeding was that in itself, her heart. “She threw away her heart. The young girl decided to protect in exchange for it.” This quote can simply show what is the trade-off and, really, it can be used to explain why she is chained to keeping face as a king. Like many, she wants to do what she can to protect everything, but in order to protect everyone she must sacrifice a few. The selflessness she provides can be used both as a shield and a poison, for when she is selfless she protects, but also she is wounded physically of even mentally in the process.
One can say that many of these burdens are due to the role she takes, but it has integrated into her life to the point where it has become simply who she is. It also shows in the way she speaks and addresses others. With each sentence, she keeps her tone and word choice professionally though there is a slim chance that she will let out some friendliness in a casual manner. She treats every person with high regards unless they don’t give her the same respect. It can be said whether in a fight or in a conversation that she would like to be treated as an equal. Having a lot of pride in her chivalry and ethics, she doesn’t fall too easily when she feels that she is insulted. From being a king, she also looks at things base by base in almost all situations objectively and tries not to take sides. While Archer does indeed attack Shirou (actually, he slashes them with one of those twin swords), she clearly understands what possible reasons as to why he might have and is satisfied with her Master returning seemingly untouched.
Saber is easily described as elegant on the battlefield and even out. Despite having picked up the sword at an early age, she can easily hold a porcelain cup filled with tea in grace. Though fierce and determined in battle, Saber tends to be softer outside the frontlines. Her gentle attributes show in how she sincerely cares for those close to her and just how it appears on her face. Yes, there are times where her stoicism starts cracking and some of her true colors start to seep out. It’s actually quite refreshing since most of the time her professional air makes people tense.
Her determination on the battlefield unfortunately also transfers into how she deals with things day-to-day, though it might actually be the reverse; her determination transfers onto the battlefield. She’s obstinate and will literally bark you up a tree sometimes. If you persevere enough to reject her plan of action to whatever it is, then you’re in for a roller-coaster. This may be hard to believe at first, but Saber can act pretty childish when things don’t go her way (which she probably thinks is the most efficient and best way in whatever situation unless said otherwise--long parentheses). She also sulks when she doesn't win... A bit of a sore loser, isn't she? She tends to back off when it doesn’t work to her favor, but then she starts acting a bit strange… if not, passive-aggressive despite how a compromise has been reached. Nevertheless, it isn’t too serious as long as you don’t mind a temporary period of dagger-stabbing looks. Putting that aside, she shows fondness of cute things and lions... And has a pretty big appetite. Actually, she has mercilessly beaten Shirou during training (ARMOR CLAD, MIND YOU) because he lazily let Taiga Fujimura cook one night and apparently it was difficult to eat. Yeah, I don't think I need to explain.
She still sounds pretty headstrong and heavy-duty, but she also has problems of her own. She takes her failures pretty hard, such as not being able to save her country from crumbling at a civil war. She also makes expressions unlike her goal-oriented self when down about her mistakes. Her emotional disposition is also a problem not only to others, but also to herself. She doesn't fare too well when one were to criticize her wishes and can easily break a bit when someone close to her doesn't seem to understand. Despite being rational and can actually pick up certain cues right on time, she can miss the main point greatly when it comes to her own well-being. One last thing... Complementing in how she sees herself as a knight before her gender, she can be insecure about her body and how it lacks that feminine touch. She mentions a couple of times about how she is too masculine (or has too much muscle) compared to Rin Tohsaka. It doesn't help that her body literally stunted growth once she pulled out the sword during her mid-teens.
All-in-all, Saber is your girl--knight and will always have your back. She is charismatic (able to lead a country) and reliable. Though her stone-like face may make those around her feel uneasy at first, it'll grow on you and perhaps you'll see the sides of Saber where she pouts and gives you the look of impending defiance. Unfortunately, she can be stubborn as a mule sometimes and might drive you up the wall until you comply. Then there are other times where she can be as gentle as spring's first bloom. Really, she is a girl that has taken a knight's oath. You cannot separate both identities without tearing apart her whole person.
ABILITIES:
Regeneration • Saber’s wounds heal pretty quickly.
Dragon Prana • Her core is literally of a dragon per request of her father, King Uther. Having the element of the Red Dragon, she surpasses many magic when it comes to magic circuits. She explains that she will always be able to replenish magical energy as long as she has even a tiny amount as a leftover. It is like a faucet. As long as there’s still some water within the cup, the faucet will keep leaking magical energy. Magical energy is used for… most of the abilities that Saber has.
Armor and Weapons • Saber is able to summon her personal armor and weapon through the use of magical energy.
Immortality • When she has Excalibur’s sheath (Avalon: The Everdistant Utopia), she is said to be immortal. Therefore she cannot die from a fatal wound, but that doesn’t mean it will help her with fatigue or when her magical energy is depleted.
Invisible Air: Boundary of the Wind King • Invisible Air is basically an anti-personal weapon, meaning that it is best when fending off things one-on-one. This is Saber’s default weapon when it comes to fighting and proves to be effective. Invisible Air is basically something like a sheath of winds that makes her sword look invisible with the refraction of light. Being invisible, it’s a bit difficult to determine the weapon’s range of attack. Also it works well as a deterrent when the winds are released into something like a hurricane.
Excalibur: Sword of Promised Victory • This is her Noble Phantasm and it is used as an anti-army attack, easily inflicting a big deal of damage on whatever surrounds her. Example youtube.
Instinct • The ability to always “feel the best course for oneself during combat. This heightened sixth sense is now close to precognition. It reduces by half any obstacles to vision or hearing.
Magic Resistance • Cancels any magic below A-rank. In practice, no magi today are able to hurt Saber.
Riding Skills • Ability to ride things. She can ride most vehicles with above average skill, but she cannot ride those demonic beast and holy beast rank.
POSSESSIONS: Excluding weapons, all she would have on her is her clothes.

Any of these would be suitable:
1) Emperor
2) Chariot
3) Strength
SHADOW:
“King Arthur doesn’t understand human feelings.”
Saber’s shadow would really consist how hard she takes her failures (specifically the downfall of her country) let alone expressing all the emotions a normal girl would have. Her shadow would be slightly delusional and would be immersed in much denial of all the things she can’t see fit… Such as how she isn’t fit to be king and shouldn’t even be considered as a woman. With the horrors she has faced during her reign as king, it would leave her shadow to portray itself as vulnerable and seeking the chance to redo things. Not only that, to display Saber’s anxiety about her stature as a woman, her shadow would also wear things that would strike someone was purely feminine.
Saber has difficulties with her overabundance of stoicism and lacks in letting her emotions show which would her leave her shadow with plenty of options. That stoicism and cold shoulder mannerisms have discouraged many in approaching Saber and creating long-lasting relationships. Though Saber brushed off all the impending loneliness and even denied feeling much at all from the distance her knights and people have shown her, it must have affected her even at least a bit. Her shadow will tap into that tiny lingering feeling of loneliness…
Basically... Saber’s shadow would prove to be just as stubborn as the original as it would try to fend off any type of reasoning that she cannot accept herself. Way insecure about her unsuitability, she would prep herself as to how a woman would be (cute clothing, hair done, make up on, etc) and would shift from being without emotion to going overboard. The shadow will deny as much as it can towards things it wouldn’t want to hear and, like her counterpart, will fight for it. Such confrontation will be dangerous as supported by Saber’s determination to fight, but in the end the shadow would be fighting for a different reason. Drowned in the sorrows of her failures and missed opportunities as a normal girl, the shadow will act like a lost child in the end who felt she couldn't amount to anything.
Please note that though Saber is not all too conflicted by some of these faults, the shadow is the embodiment of lingering feelings on a whole new league of exaggeration.
PERSONA:
Gryphon
The griffin, griffon, or gryphon (Greek: γρύφων, grýphōn, or γρύπων, grýpōn, early form γρύψ, grýps; Latin: gryphus) is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. The griffin was also thought of as king of the creatures. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions. Adrienne Mayor, a classical folklorist, proposes that the griffin was an ancient misconception derived from the fossilized remains of the Protoceratops found in gold mines in the Altai mountains of Scythia, in present day southeastern Kazakhstan. In antiquity it was a symbol of divine power and a guardian of the divine. Some have suggested that the word griffin is cognate with Cherub.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
It has been a couple of weeks since her arrival to Inaba… Though her persistence of returning home dimmed, she was still hopeful as she investigated the area as much as she could on foot. So far she has scoped the books at Book-On, fully experienced possibly every place possible for dining (with what budget she could pick up from her temporary job), spent time at the temple, and lastly visited the riverbank for its stray cats. Though she heard from those around her that she can certainly fish along the river, she didn’t own nor had a fishing rod on her. Her interest was little, but then they told her that it would be a great way to train in diligence and test one’s strength.
She could not let this opportunity pass.
First, she actually checked the hobby shop only to find that they haven’t had much business for quite a while. She would not stay defeated though. After much information gathering from the small conversations in the Amagi Inn and obviously the television, she found that her destination was set on this place called “Junes”. From what she picked up from the commercial, it was a place of wonder… She would be lying if she denied that she was a bit curious. It was only natural for her to plan her trip to Junes and visit when she could manage both her money and her time.
Finally, when that day arrived… She really underestimated their slogan.
Greeted by many of the employees, she was surprised, but what really hit her were the contents of the department store. It… literally had everything. It wasn’t something like what she saw when she followed Shirou on his date with Rin. In reality, she thought that she was brought to a different city compared to the small district she was dropped off in.
“Do you need any help, miss?” An employee approached as she was watching the televisions in the electronics aisle. “You seem interested in our plasma screens, hm?”
“Ah—no—well, yes… But not exactly.” She wasn’t sure how to put it. Really, she was just watching because it was a documentary on a pride of lions. “My interest was only piqued by what was airing.”
But then Saber quickly adds, “The picture does seem crisp though.”
“You know they’re on sale!” The employee continued to nudge her towards the screens, but Saber resisted a bit as her heels tried to dig themselves into the ground.
“My purpose here is to purchase a sturdy fishing rod.” With a firm nod, she only planned on that and nothing else. “I would appreciate it if you would point me to the section where I may find them.”
“Oh, they’re down this aisle and towards your right past the cooking utensils.”
After bowing her head and thanking the employee, she goes back on trekking only to have something catch her eye—okay, perhaps many things catch her eye. Stainless steel, pots and pans, just about everything seemed to twinkle. At first, she only thought of the food that Shirou once cooked for her… and fell into nostalgia. With a small smile on her face, her resolve over the Holy Grail only strengthened. She obviously had a lot more to reminisces about, but it didn't seem like it was part of life's plan for her that day.
“Miss, would you like to test out our OXO Salad Spinner?!”
Saber jumped back quickly. Being caught off guard, she warily eyed the surprise attacking employee before relaxing. She must have lost her touch the last couple of weeks to have let something like this happen to her in a department store.
“I’m not exactly—“ She was interrupted by the sounds of the salad spinner.
“See? With just one hand you can wash and dry your salad!”
What was she even watching…? She was not entirely sure, but she appeared vexed and forgot about her objective for a small amount of time.
